On Monday we covered claims from De Telegraaf of interest in Andre Onana.
Tottenham, PSG and Manchester United were all said to be concrete in their chase of the Ajax goalkeeper and had contacted his agent.
It felt very much like Onana being pushed to the market, with the Champions League match against Chelsea this week being a good chance to get things going.
PSG have been linked several times in recent weeks, despite signing Keylor Navas on a four year contract in the summer. Tottenham and Manchester United interest perhaps made even less sense.
Spurs will eventually have to replace Hugo Lloris, but spending the €40-50m Ajax seem to be pushing for would be a little over the top next summer, it’s not an obvious priority for Tottenham in the immediate transfer future.
Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is then quoted as saying: “Andre is one of our key players, very important for our success. He has shown it so many times in the Eredivisie, but certainly also in the Champions League if he is challenged. And yes, he would certainly fit in the English Premier League.”
The Dutch champions face Chelsea tonight at Stamford Bridge, and Onana is very much in the shop window.
