Following Arne Slot’s announcement that he would not be the next Tottenham manager, Daniel Levy and co. have been forced to continue down their list.
Some names are still to be approached, and that could be the case for Vincenzo Italiano, who is currently managing Fiorentina in Italy.
This comes courtesy of Gianluca Di Marzio, relayed by Fiorentina.it, who spoke on Sky Italia about the manager’s future and what it could hold.
There has been talk Italiano, who will be facing West Ham in the final of the Conference League, could be the replacement of Luciano Spalletti at Napoli, but there could be competition from Tottenham.
Di Marzio said: “It’s inevitable that he will end up in the crosshairs of big clubs like Napoli. If De Laurentiis were to bet on Italian, I would find it normal. I know he is also popular abroad. He is on Tottenham’s list. Many say that Italiano has a €10m clause, but there is no release clause to release him from Fiorentina.”
Therefore, Tottenham would have to manage some negotiations with Fiorentina to get him out of his contract if they decided to bet on him, and all the power would be in the Serie A club’s hands.
Not an ideal situation for Levy, who has really struggled this time around to convince managers to take over from Antonio Conte.
