As you might have heard or seen, Tottenham beat Barcelona to the signing of Lucas Bergvall, who had a choice between the two clubs.

The young Swede eventually decided to opt to work under Ange Postecoglou, perhaps believing that the stability finally appearing in London outweighed what will be a summer of change in Catalonia, with Xavi stepping down from his role as manager.

Either way, the Tottenham transfer is a big deal in Sweden, where Aftonbladet react to it via their journalist Simon Bank, who has a whole page dedicated to the deal.

He explains that while there might be some who follow the Allsvenskan who feel that ‘it’s sad’ they didn’t get to appreciate the talent for long, that is both ‘fake and true’.

Yes, he will only have been there for a year or so, but ‘that doesn’t mean there wasn’t time to get to know him’, especially considering the impact he has made in such a small amount of time.

But, at the same time, this is an example of what Sweden is becoming, with Roony Bardghji likely to soon follow after Bergvall; a player Tottenham so happen to also be interested in.

What has helped Tottenham is their ‘remarkable turnaround’ from a ‘lost, reactive loser dinosaur’ to a club that is ‘future-oriented’ helmed by one of the ‘most interesting managers’ currently available.

In fact, Daniel Levy, once condemned as a ‘miser’ for more than a decade, is even ‘starting to look like a visionary’.

Kulusevski might have also been a contributing factor, because Bank explains he knows from the Tottenham star himself that he is ‘in love’ with the project in place at Spurs.

The belief is Bergvall ‘will get the chance’ at the Premier League club ‘if he takes it’, with the legacy of Fabio Paratici still lingering, as the London side continue to bank on future talent that can also help them in the immediate.
