Tottenham need to offer at least $10m for Club América defender Sebastián Cáceres if they want him in the January transfer window.
That’s according to journalist Jonatan Peña, who says such a figure would ensure the transfer rumours around the centre back would ‘have a happy ending’.
Cáceres has been surprisingly linked with a move to the Premier League for several months, with a handful of English teams, including Tottenham, believed to be keeping an eye on him.
Indeed, it is often Spurs who have been pushed to the front of the queue for him, with Ange Postecoglou desperate to bolster his defensive options in January after injuries has consistently left him short in that area of the team.
That remained the case earlier this month when it was explained that Tottenham ‘in particular’ were keen on the 24-year-old, eyeing him as something of a budget friendly option to strengthen Postecoglou’s squad.
The Uruguayan is currently valued at around €3.5m but according to Peña América will ‘hold out for at least $10m’ before they are willing to let Cáceres depart in January.
That works out at around €8.99m, so still a potential bargain for Tottenham if they’re keen on the signing and not too much of a stretch for Daniel Levy’s purse strings either.
