Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has restricted Carles Aleñá to one appearance this season, which came in the opening day defeat against Athletic Bilbao in August.
The 21-year-old’s current situation has caught the attention of Tottenham Hotspur and Real Betis.
‘Pochettino to get Aleñá’ is splashed on the front page of Mundo Deportivo as they view him as a replacement for Christian Eriksen, who could leave the club in January.
In the summer, the north London side were the ‘most interested’ club in the Spaniard as they insisted on several occasions with him and his environment for the transfer.
However, the La Liga winners decided to retain him because they thought Ivan Rakitić would be sold. The Croatian, along with Aleñá, continued at the club.
Tottenham are still waiting to see how the player’s situation would evolve at Camp Nou before making a move in January. Mauricio Pochettino is a great supporter of the midfielder.
Pochettino has been in contact several times with the player’s camp, but wasn’t able to convinced him to leave Barcelona in the summer.
He is managed by Iván de la Peña, who is a close friend of the Spurs manager as the two played together at Espanyol. Pochettino also shares a good relationship with Eric Abidal’s assistant, Ramon Planes.
These two factors could be vital for transfer, but Mundo states Barcelona are not in favour of Aleñá’s sale.
Valverde has several options in midfield and this includes Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Arthur, Arturo Vidal and Sergio Roberto.
Aleñá will continue to struggle to feature regularly, which is why a move away from the club could be ideal for him.
Mundo further states Real Betis are also interested in Aleñá and they could provide competition to Tottenham for his signature.
