Tottenham have put a €30m asking price on Emerson Royal this summer, as they ‘still believe in his qualities’ and aren’t desperate to sell.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say Tottenham aren’t rushing to sell the Brazilian, hence the relatively high price.
The newspaper admits that AC Milan had been eyeing a potential move for Emerson as they plan a summer of rebuilding and adding to their squad.
They were eyeing up the full-back, who has fallen from being a regular starter under Antonio Conte to a substitute role under Ange Postecoglou.
The belief had been that could open the door to a transfer this summer as Tottenham eye sales to fund their own rebuild but it seems the opposite is the case.
Rather than being happy to let him go Tottenham ‘still believe in his qualities’ and because of that have put a €30m asking price on his head. That’s essentially what they paid to sign him, so they want their money back if he is to leave.
Whether Milan are willing to pay that, and we would suggest that they aren’t, remains to be seen but it seems Emerson will be staying where he is for the time being as Tottenham are bigger fans than some would have thought they are.
