Due to a hamstring injury, Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero missed out on many games Spurs recently had.
The 24-year-old was out of Antonio Conte’s side in four Premier League matches, one EFL Cup tie and even a Champions League clash.
With him absent in Tottenham’s game against Leeds United at the weekend, it seemed like he’d arrive at Argentina’s training camp in doubtful conditions, even though he was not in danger for the World Cup.
It turns out, however, that Romero seems to be just fine. That’s something said by national team manager Lionel Scaloni, who in a press conference today, talked about the players who could still not be ready to train with the squad.
“Cuti Romero is doing quite well. In today’s training we will do something a little more demanding thinking about tomorrow. We will then know if they will be available. We will not risk anyone, we do not want problems in the future”,” said Scaloni (via La Nacion).
As La Nacion wonders about the line-up which will play the United Arab Emirates in a friendly, they include Romero in the list, expecting him to be in the line-up for Wednesday’s game.
It’s no surprise to see players trying to avoid injuries prior to the World Cup, and with Romero not even taken to Tottenham’s squad last weekend, this seems to be one more of those cases.
