Tottenham Hotspur are searching for a new manager after showing the exit door to Antonio Conte on March 26th.
Last week, Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen stated the north London club have Feyenoord manager Arne Slot on their list.
This is now backed up by De Telegraaf, who then provide updates on Tottenham’s chances of taking the 44-year-old away from the Eredivisie side.
Slot has helped his side sit comfortably on top of the league table, eight points ahead of Ajax, who are in the second spot. This has seen him attract attention from England as Leeds United had approached him before appointing Javi Gracia in February.
Tottenham are now showing interest in the Dutchman as he’s one of the three candidates on their list. His contract lasts until 2025 and includes a clause that allows him to leave the club before his deal expires.
It’s claimed the clause will be valid from the summer of 2024. Therefore, Feyenoord can demand millions to part ways with Slot after this season.
Barcelona paid €5m to the Netherlands FA to take Ronald Koeman in 2020. This is the current record fee paid for a Dutch coach. Slot’s move to Spurs or any other club will only be possible if they pay a ‘record amount’ to Feyenoord.
Tottenham could be in a position to offer over €5m but the newspaper questions whether they want to bet on a manager, who only has the experience of managing in Europe with Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar.
