Tottenham Hotspur are actively looking to bolster their squad in January and one of the positions they want to reinforce is the right wing-back position.
Sporting’s Pedro Porro is identified as the main target, and this has been mentioned regularly in the past few weeks.
The Eagles have asked Tottenham to pay the player’s €45m release clause, if they wish to sign him in January.
Record on Friday explain a meeting is scheduled between Sporting and Spurs next week, specifically related to the this potential transfer.
Despite this opening from the Portuguese club for a meeting with Antonio Conte’s side, they continue to insist their position has not changed. In other words, Porro will only leave if his €45m termination clause is triggered.
Sporting face Benfica in the Lisbon derby on Sunday and the decisive summit with the north London club will only take place after this clash.
This would give Tottenham room to find an alternative target, if the deal for the 23-year-old doesn’t materialise.
As of Thursday, Sporting haven’t received a formal offer from Spurs.
Porro, for his part, is aware of the conditions of the deal that awaits him in London. They have offered to pay him more than double what he is currently earning [€1.8m per year].
He will only be able to earn this at Tottenham if a deal can be agreed with Sporting or if his clause is triggered.
