Tottenham Hotspur are still in the picture to sign Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa, according to claims from Belgium
Spurs had been repeatedly pushed forward as the main contender before Brentford took the lead in the transfer race. The winger underwent medical tests with them, during which ‘an ailment’ was detected.
That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who have warned the Bees that Tottenham could hijack their deal for the 18-year-old.
Thomas Frank’s side found a piece of cartilage during Nusa’s medical and now want to be 100% sure before proceeding with this operation. The Jupiler Pro League side understand their concerns and will wait for a few hours to see what they plan to do next.
HLN explain that it’s not ruled out for Brentford to back out of the deal. The Belgian club aren’t concerned if that happens because there are ‘still clubs interested’ in the Norway international, including Tottenham.
It’s claimed Ange Postecoglou’s side are one of the clubs ‘lurking’, and monitoring his situation closely, likely to find out if they can hijack the deal.
Het Nieuwsblad say Club Brugge believe Spurs could be one of the alternatives if the move to Brentford collapses. It’s claimed Tottenham ‘really want’ him, but the player favours a move to Brentford since they have assured more game time.
Whatever happens, it’s surely unlikely Tottenham would match the deal offered by Brentford, especially after the issues found during the medical.
That deal is reportedly worth €37m, plus 12.5% of any future profit and a loan back for the rest of the season. It was stretching the boundaries of sense even before the medical issues.
