Tottenham are ready to cash in their transfer ‘favours’ with Atletico Madrid with Yannick Carrasco and Jan Oblak potential future targets.
That’s according to Marca, who say Spurs may look to use their positive relationship with the Spanish side to bolster their own squad.
They’ve done Atletico two favours in recent months, first sending Sergio Reguilón on loan to help them cover the departure of Renan Lodi and then letting Matt Doherty leave so he could join Atletico on a free transfer.
Those are seen as ‘favours’ to Diego Simeone’s side and they are now looking to the future and the potential of cashing them in.
The belief is that they could look to use them in negotiations with Atletico for some of their stars, with Carrasco a player that they have ‘already been interested’ in in previous markets.
He wants a ‘change of scenery’ and has already been potentially tied to Barcelona, who have a ‘preferential option’ on him as part of Memphis Depay’s move to the Wanda Metropolitano.
Oblak, meanwhile, remains loyal to Atletico but the Premier League has ‘always attracted his attention’ and Tottenham are on the hunt for a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.
He would certainly fill that void perfectly and Tottenham may be ‘ready to cash in’ on the favours they’ve done Atletico to strengthen themselves considerably in the coming months.
