While there has been a lot of talk surrounding Tottenham making big bids for midfielders in the summer, there is also the option of acquiring one on a free.
This is where a player such as Adrien Rabiot would come in, with Corriere dello Sport suggesting Spurs are one of the teams interested in the Frenchman.
Extending his expiring contract by a year last summer, the midfielder is once again a free agent in the summer, meaning he can negotiate a move at this moment in time if he so wishes, and it’s said Tottenham are one of the clubs who ‘have positioned their radar’ on him.
They aren’t the only ones, with local rivals Arsenal also on the case, alongside Liverpool, and all are in a position that favours a transfer rather than a stay in Turin.
Mostly, it comes down to money, since Tottenham and other English clubs are capable of guaranteeing him a ‘super salary’, that would see him exceed the €7m/year he earns at Juventus.
Bayern Munich are also mentioned, and Manchester United, who have tried multiple times in the past, could also make another attempt to get him, all depending on what their manager and Sir Jim Ratcliffe want going forward.
Either way, Tottenham are in the mix for Rabiot, and it could prove a low cost affair for Ange Postecoglou to add experience and quality to his midfield instead of splurging €60m on Frenkie de Jong.
