Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is still hoping to secure a low cost, quick exit from the club so he can find his happiness in football again at a new club.
That’s according to AS, who say the Argentine midfielder remains ‘the great dream’ for Real Betis, who are now eyeing up a move in the January transfer window.
The newspaper explains that if the Spanish club can find the money, their plan is to add a central defender to their squad and then focus on Lo Celso.
The midfielder was linked throughout the summer window but did not secure a move away from Tottenham, where it seemed he was going to be a part of Ange Postecoglou’s side moving forwards.
That’s not proven to be the case, though, as he has managed just 16 minutes of football and been left out while others have impressed.
Tottenham’s stance on him from the summer, when they only considered two options; a sale for €15-20m or keeping him, remains the same after several sides showed an interest but didn’t offer up anything acceptable.
Lo Celso is not happy with that and wants to leave to finally find a place where he can ‘be happy in football’ once again.
He had that with Real Betis, where he managed 16 goals and six assists in one campaign and played in the Europa League as well. It was after that he joined Tottenham, where things have not gone to plan, and he wants out of to get back on track.
