Tottenham have Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven ‘at the top of their list’ this summer but are yet to open concrete talks about a transfer.
That’s according to Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, who say reports of a breakthrough in negotiations are wide of the mark.
The newspaper explains that according to their information, claims that there have been negotiations between Tottenham and Wolfsburg and a breakthrough in those talks are not true and it is ‘not the case at all’.
While there have been ‘loose talks’ between the two parties, those in charge at the German club do not have a written offer on their desks.
As such, as talk of an imminent transfer is out of the question. Indeed, Wolfsburg ‘have no interest’ in selling the Dutchman this summer.
He plays a key role in manager Niko Kovac’s plans and only an ‘immoral offer’ beyond €40m would make them reconsider their stance.
Tottenham are yet to offer that figure or make any sort of concrete bid for him either and while the interest is there, any transfer talks at this moment in time have been informal at best.
