Tottenham Hotspur star Rodrigo Bentancur has emerged as a ‘surprise name’ on Galatasaray’s agenda for the summer window.
That’s according to Takvim, who say the Turkish champions aim to further bolster their squad, and have identified the 26-year-old as a target.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk is keen on bringing the Tottenham midfielder to the club this summer.
The Istanbul club are aware it will difficult to take the player from Spurs, but are willing to make an effort.
It’s explained that Galatasaray met with the Uruguay international’s agent, to discuss the ‘financial conditions’ of a move. This would mean the Turkish club have asked his salary demand and the fee needed to take him away from the Premier League side.
Takvim add Galatasaray’s Uruguayan duo of Fernando Muslera and Lucas Torreira will support the club in their pursuit of the Tottenham player.
There’s no mention or indication of whether Bentancur and the north London club are open to parting ways. Tottenham are unlikely to sanction his exit considering Giovani Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg could leave the club this summer.
Last season, the South American struggled with two different injuries, restricting him to 25 appearances for Spurs.
