The Italian media now makes it clear that Lazio’s chase for Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is back on.
On Monday morning, newspaper Il Messaggero had already claimed that despite the player’s initial denial to the move, the Serie A side are set to make fresh contact and try again.
Now as Sky Sport brings their update, they claim that the negotiations to sign the Tottenham player are ‘reopen’ indeed.
It’s said that even though the denial seemed ‘definitive’, the parties are again speaking and new contacts already took place.
Lloris’ rejection of the move had been because he didn’t want to be Lazio’s number two. He currently has the same spot at Tottenham, and it wouldn’t make much sense to move to Italy for that.
Sky now highlight that the club want a goalkeeper to ‘work alongside Provedel’ for a ‘long and busy season’.
So perhaps Lazio will try to argue that Lloris will have some chances to play, even though he won’t start week after week.
With so much difficulty in convincing the player, the stories don’t even mention the negotiations with Tottenham.
