Earlier on Monday, we covered the latest regarding Milan’s interest in Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga.

Seeing his season cut short by a knee injury, the defender is now back and with Spurs’ squad for pre-season, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be at the club when the league starts.

We say this because Milan, having failed to sign Sven Botman from Lille, are in need of an extra defender, which is where the former England U21 International would come in.

It was said that the idea would be for a loan, and it appears this is one that is growing, as Claudio Raimondi, speaking on Sport Mediaset and relayed by Milan News, believes the Tottenham player’s profile is gaining points.

He said: “Tottenham’s Tanganga has overtaken the name of Paris Saint-Germain’s Abdou Diallo for the red and black defence. The deal could be concluded as a loan.”

If that is the case, with him perhaps now the favourite, it remains to be seen what kind of loan deal is put together by Milan and their London counterparts.

After all, the Serie A side did really well when they negotiated Fikayo Tomori’s loan from Chelsea to get him for what many saw as a bargain price after the player had excelled during his short time there.

There might be a fear that could happen with Tottenham’s Tanganga, which will certainly be on Daniel Levy’s and Fabio Paratici’s minds if they are to negotiate with Milan.
