Days after Erik Lamela couldn’t do much against Inter Milan at the San Siro, the Italian press brings a story saying he could have played this match for the other side.

Calcio Mercato reports that the Argentine player had been offered to the Nerazzurri back in March, during the preparations for the summer market.

Lamela was offered to Piero Ausilio and Walter Sabatini. But with a change in leadership, transfers plans also changed, and they decided not to make an attempt to sign him.

The website also claims that Lamela’s wage demands were too high, and that Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sell him for €35m, not giving a chance for a loan deal. That’s why Inter chose to go for other targets such as Matteo Politano and Keita Balde.

Calcio Mercato says that Lamela would have accepted the move to Inter, as he’s never become at Tottenham what people expected from him at Roma, maybe the defeat to Inter hurts him more now.
