Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga is on his way to Galatasaray, according to reports from the Turkish media.
Fanatik reports that the 22-year-old is being signed on a one-year loan, with his new club paying his salary of €1.2m through the season.
Galatasaray president Burak Elmas is said to be the one handling the negotiations, and the Turkish side have been trying to include a buying option in the deal.
They are now said to be ‘counting down for the transfer’, even though the deal is said to be already ‘finished’.
Tanganga is a product of Tottenham’s youth tanks and was officially promoted to Spurs’ first team at the beginning of 2020. Despite having a sequence of starts at the time, he then struggled with injuries and was only used occasionally since then, mostly in the right-back position.
With Spurs now signing Cristian Romero from Atalanta, it now looks like Nuno Espírito Santo sees no use for Tanganga this season, not even as fullback option. He still has a long contract with the club, running until 2025.
