Since Tottenham Hotspur started being linked to the signings of Pedro Porro and Marcus Edwards from Sporting, the Portuguese media always made it clear it wouldn’t be easy to get the two players from Lisbon.
To let them go, the Lions demand both release clauses to be triggered, meaning that for the Spanish fullback, Spurs would need to pay €45m, and for the English striker, the price would be of €30m, since the London side have a 50% discount over his €60m release clause.
That’s why the double deal was always said to have a price tag of €75m, and now, for the first time, we get to see how much Tottenham are putting on the table.
As newspaper Correio da Manhã wrote over the weekend a story about that chase, they claim that with Sporting demanding €75m, the numbers are ‘not far’ from each other, with Spurs willing to pay €70m.
The Lions are expected to continue being tough in talks, since they want both players to stay at least until the end of the season.
But the truth is that in case Tottenham trigger both release clauses, there’s not a lot the Portuguese side could do.
