Tottenham are keen on a move for Real Madrid youngster Miguel Gutiérrrez but have been told they can’t get the 19-year-old defender.
That’s according to Defensa Central, who say Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Gutiérrrez after trying to sign him during his time at Manchester United.
Gutiérrrez has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in Madrid’s youth ranks and impressed for their Castilla side this season since being promoted from the U19s.
He currently has 12 appearances in all competitions to his name this season, and his performances have not gone unnoticed, with several Spanish clubs contacting Madrid to ask about a loan deal.
There is also interest from ‘big clubs’, though with several considering the youngster a ‘diamond in the rough’ worth pushing to sign.
Tottenham are one of them, and that is courtesy of Mourinho, who has ‘not hidden his interest’ in Gutiérrrez and even tried to sign him for Manchester United.
However, the youngster rejected his offer and decided to remain in Spain and work under Madrid icon Raúl González. Similarly, he ‘fits in’ with Zinedine Zidane’s plans, and the Frenchman has already included him as part of a friendly squad with the first team.
The defender is ‘expected to have a promising future’, and so Madrid have already rejected the enquiries they’ve had from the likes of Tottenham.
