Tottenham forward Bryan Gil wants to return to Sevilla on a permanent basis this summer and has made that obvious with his comments about the club.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who say the player’s ‘wishes are obvious’ given his continuous ‘declaration of love’ for the Spanish side, described as the ‘club of his life’.
The newspaper cover the forward today as he gears up to play in the Europa League final with Sevilla, whom he joined on loan from Tottenham in the January transfer window.
He went to his former club after a miserable few months at Spurs, where he returned in the summer after a loan spell at Valencia last season but found himself out of the picture under Antonio Conte.
That’s led to increased speculation about a permanent return to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in the summer, particularly if it is made clear he is not a part of Tottenham’s plans moving forwards.
That is something Gil has not openly expressed as yet and is unlikely to do so in the coming days, a ‘logical’ choice given their impending clash with Roma in the Europa League final.
However, ABC say his ‘wishes are obvious’ from how he has spoken about Sevilla in recent months, with each of his words on them a ‘declaration of love’ that he continually professes to the club.
Whether a deal can be done with Tottenham remains to be seen and for the time being Gil ‘does not want to say’, instead focusing on that all important final.
“I arrived in a season when we were in a bad way, fighting for relegation, and I didn’t think I could come back here on loan,” he said.
“In the end, it happened and, luckily, I can play in a Europa League final with Sevilla FC… I only think about winning it, I hope we can win it.”
