It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Radu Dragusin’s agent, but it appears the Tottenham man’s agent wants to stir the transfer pot again.
Per Sempre Calcio cover comments from Florian Manea today, made to Stile TV, in which he talks up a potential move to Napoli once again.
Manea was busy drumming up interest in the Tottenham defender throughout January as Italian sides reportedly considered taking him back to Serie A.
Napoli are believed to be keen on, having previously made an effort to sign the defender before he joined Tottenham in a €25m deal from Genoa in January last year.
Manea has discussed their interest on several occasions since and admits all players, including his client, would like to work under Napoli manager Antonio Conte.
“He misses Italy, who knows, he might even come back in the future. But at the moment the strongest league is the English one, so it’s hard to say that it’s not a pleasure to play there,” he said.
“Yes, Napoli were interested. I also spoke to De Laurentiis, who was very kind. But it was too late: Tottenham had already started negotiations a month earlier and then Bayern Munich also got involved. In the end, the boy chose Spurs.
“All the players in the world would like to be trained by Conte to improve, he is a stratospheric level coach. But for now, I can’t say anything, because Dragusin has a long contract with Tottenham.”
For now, the focus for Dragusin is on recovering from a cruciate ligament injury the defender picked up at the end of January.
He’s expected to spend the rest of this year on the sidelines, with estimates that he will only return at the beginning of December.
The injury is the first major one of his career for the 23-year-old, but Manea insists surgery was required due to his age.
“Radu faced the operation with great determination and is recovering quickly,” he added.
“After only two days of surgery, he was already able to put pressure on his knee. The muscles and other ligaments were fine, so it was just an unfortunate episode.
“At only 23 years old, the operation was inevitable to ensure a full recovery. If he had been 35, perhaps he could have avoided the operation and continued playing.”
