Injuring himself right before the World Cup, Giovani Lo Celso did everything to try and make it to Qatar with Argentina, but it was to no avail.
The midfielder, on loan at Villarreal from Tottenham for the second season in a row, wanted to avoid surgery to stand a chance of representing his country, but the decision to go under the knife was eventually made.
He has since been recovering, and to the great joy of the La Liga side, and probably Tottenham, he is now back.
Estadio Deportivo have a big article on the matter, recalling that he was absent due to a ‘serious muscle injury’, but has now been give the ‘medical discharge’, meaning the all-clear, and is now ‘available to play again’.
His manager, Quique Setién, confirmed the news, alongside the return of Nico Jackson, and stated the player could even feature in the upcoming game against Almería for a few minutes.
For Tottenham, this will be good news as they will want Lo Celso to play as much as possible, considering he still has a contract there until 2025, and the hope will be to sell him in the summer, seeing as he clearly has no place in Antonio Conte’s plans at Spurs.
