Tottenham Hotspur’s Bryan Gil has been on loan at Sevilla since the winter market and his fine displays for the La Liga side saw him return to the Spain squad for this international break.
On Thursday, the 22-year-old was forced to leave the national team due to a fitness issue.
The Friday edition of AS provides a background on why the Tottenham owned player will not be able to represent La Roja against Norway and Scotland.
The forward complained about muscle discomfort and that prevented him from training with his teammates.
This forced him to undergo various tests, after which the Spain’s medical team, coach and Gil ‘decided that it was best’ for him to withdraw from the squad and continue recovery at Sevilla.
The concern was enough to withdraw him to ‘avoid possible further injury’.
The Tottenham man’s loss is ‘bad news’ for Spain manager Luis de la Fuente, who has already lost Gerard Moreno for this month’s fixtures.
AS state De la Fuente has decided not to bring in a replacement for Gil.
