Tottenham midfielder Pierre Emile Hojbjerg is an option for Borussia Dortmund this summer, if they fail to get a deal for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Pascal Groß over the line.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that while Dortmund are still pushing to sign the Brighton man, the Tottenham midfielder remains an alternative.
He reports that Hojbjerg wants to leave Tottenham this summer and has signed up with a new agency, Unique Sports Group, in an effort to make that happen.
He only has a year left on his current deal with Spurs and after a season of barely featuring under Ange Postecoglou wants to move on. The recent signing of Archie Gray from Leeds has also likely pushed him down the pecking order.
Dortmund are one of those to put him on their list of options, according to Plettenberg, who reports the Tottenham man is one of several potential targets if a move for Brighton’s Pascal Groß doesn’t materialise.
They’re still pushing to get that deal over the line and want to get it signed and sealed with Brighton soon but, if it that doesn’t happen, they may turn their attention to Hojbjerg.
He was recently asked about a potential move to Dortmund by Plettenberg and remained coy on the idea, even if Denmark teammate Thomas Delaney was advising him to make it.
“It’s a great stadium. Now I’ll take a vacation first, then we’ll talk about the rest,” the Tottenham man said after playing in Dortmund’s stadium against Germany.
“I would recommend (the move) both for Borussia Dortmund and Pierre. He’s an amazing player. For me he’s a top international central midfielder,” added Delaney.
