Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to Lautaro Martinez for more than a year.

At various points he was seen as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, when Manchester City were making efforts to sign the England international.

Now, the deal is not thought to be so reliant on a Kane exit, partly because Inter Milan’s asking price has dropped. Whereas once the Serie A club were looking for more than €100m for their striker, now, given their financial situation has changed, they’d be looking for around €60-70m.

Corriere della Sera say despite there being interest in the player, and an ‘expression of interest’ from both Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, negotiations for a move have not yet started. Barcelona are also credited with interest, but elsewhere in Italy it’s been made clear Inter wouldn’t accept the type of deal Barca would be looking for.

Inter Milan see Martinez as someone they can sell this summer, as they again look to raise funds. That gives Tottenham a reasonable chance, and Fabio Paratici will presumably know which negotiating buttons to press.
