Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, according to claims from Spain.
AS today writes that Spurs’ chase for the 31-year-old dates back to January, when they were not very certain about having Hugo Lloris as their number one.
Tottenham then asked about Bono’s situation and price. But Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli and director Monchi decided that he was crucial for the team, and therefore blocked his exit.
It’s said that with Lloris’ injury happening just days after the end of the January window, things could have been different if it had taken place before, as Spurs could have ‘squeezed with a hefty offer’ of over €20m.
AS says that if Sevilla don’t get a spot in a European competition, then they’re set to sell Bono for a considerable amount, and Tottenham are expected to come after him again.
The problem for Spurs is that they are not alone in this pursuit, as other English clubs such as Manchester United and West Ham United have been linked to the goalkeeper as well. He’s protected by a €50m release clause, and Sevilla will certainly try to make as much as possible.
