Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in midfielder Franck Kessie is a story which has been continuing for quite some time. It started when the player was still impressing at Atalanta, and his move to AC Milan in 2017 did not stop that chase.
Now there’s a real chance the 25-year-old could leave Italy, as his contract with the Rossoneri expires at the end of the season and there’s a lot of a struggle for a renewal.
So as Milan Live writes about the situation today, they point out that in case of a new deal with Milan, Kessie’s agent would not get a big commission. That’d be a different situation with a move abroad, and that could be an important issue for the player’s decision.
Just in case Tottenham could feel threatened by that competition, it seems at least one of those clubs have already given up on the signing. That’s Barcelona.
A story from Sport today claims the Camp Nou side have withdrawn from the race, as Kessie is making ‘exorbitant requests’ which the club can’t match. Following an offer for the midfielder to make €5m per season, after-tax, he asked for more.
Sport says ‘several cubs from the Premier League and Juventus’ are now the best positioned to sign the Ivorian as a free agent. So that’s another source with a sign that Tottenham may have a shot at his arrival.
