Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs chasing Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.
Atlético Madrid have been keen on signing the midfielder, mainly because he would fit well into Diego Simeone’s system at the Metropolitano. He ‘will leave’ the Serie A side in the summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the La Liga side’s dream to sign him ‘seems difficult’ to materialse because of Tottenham and Bayern Munich.
It’s said Spurs and the German champions are the ‘latest to join’ the race to sign the 26-year-old. In addition to this, Barcelona are also in the mix and Mundo say they are his preferred destination.
The Morocco international’s entourage have stated his priority is to play in Spain, where the Catalan club are currently ahead of Atlético.
Mundo say that with a €20m base price, there will be an auction for him, which will push Simeone’s side down the pecking order. Atlético cannot compete financially with the likes of Tottenham or Bayern.
Tottenham’s interest in the player isn’t new if a report from Italy is to be believed. On Sunday, La Nazione reported Spurs are keen to sign him and have made contact with his entourage.
