Tottenham are ‘keenly interested’ in Brighton and Hove Albion star Leandro Trossard as he looks to force a move away this month.
That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who say the player has been offered around England without any serious bidders so far.
Trossard has been angling for a move away from Brighton for several months following an impressive start to the season.
He had been shining under Graham Potter and started well under his successor Roberto de Zerbi but there has been a public falling out with the Italian in recent weeks.
The Brighton coach this week criticised his player, insisting he needed to see more commitment and effort from the Belgian if he was to be a part of his plans.
Those comments did not go down well with the player’s agent, who blasted De Zerbi yesterday and urged the club to help them secure a move away this month as Trossard would not be signing a new deal.
HLN cover that today and say so far, the Seagulls have ‘rebuffed all interest’ in the player, despite the increasingly toxic relationship between him and De Zerbi.
The ‘final word’ will lie with owner Tony Bloom and he is yet to sanction a departure for Trossard, whose current contract expires in 2024.
The forward has been ‘offered all over England’ in recent weeks but no top team has shown a willingness to take the plunge. Liverpool went for Cody Gakpo, Manchester United can only afford loans and Arsenal are going for Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Chelsea, who have been heavily linked thanks to Potter being in the dugout, secured a loan deal for João Felix first.
That leaves Tottenham and they are ‘keenly interested’ as Antonio Conte wants to add a ‘character’ like Trossard to his squad. They, though, are ‘waiting’ before they make any moves.
That leaves Trossard stuck at Brighton for the time being, with the situation becoming increasingly more poisonous and unlikely to improve in the coming weeks.
