For the past few days, claims in the UK have stated that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Club América’s Sebastián Cáceres and could consider making an approach to sign him in January.
On Tuesday, Record in Mexico stated Club América are getting the idea the 24-year-old could leave them in January or next summer.
Today’s El Universal claims several teams are closely following the centre-back and only Tottenham are mentioned. Their title says the north London club ‘want’ to sign him.
Within the report, it’s stated Ange Postecoglou’s side have set their sights on Cáceres and are already ‘preparing an offer’ to secure his services in the winter market.
The Uruguay international has a deal until December 2024 and the newspaper makes no mention of the fee Tottenham are planning to offer or the demands made by the Mexican club to let him go.
The report, however, does suggest Cáceres could be the next player to make a switch to Europe in January.
Focusing on his performances, El Universal say the South American hasn’t won over the América supporters just yet. At the same time, they add he has managed to showcase his qualities while with Uruguay, which has attracted the attention of several clubs.
Cáceres, who joined América in 2020, has made 10 appearances for them this season.
