Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Milan Škriniar and the possibility of sending Tanguy Ndombele to Inter Milan was a regular topic of discussion in the Italian press until the end of August.
Ndombele has decided to continue at the north London club, while the Serie A side have looked at other options to strengthen their midfield.
Calciomercato has a report on Spurs interest in Škriniar, and states the Premier League club have been the ‘most interested team’ in the defender for months.
Antonio Conte’s side are demanding €60m to allow the centre-back leave the club, which is higher than then €40m which has been claimed elsewhere. It will be difficult to find an agreement without including any players as part of the deal because Tottenham are not willing to meet Inter’s request for the 25-year-old.
José Mourinho has long been an admirer of the defender, but his asking price has become an obstacle for his club. Benfica’s Rúben Dias is also an option for Mourinho’s side.
According to the report, Spurs will go into negotiations with Inter, hoping to ‘lower the cost of the deal’.
There’s no clarity on whether or not the Italian will reduce their player’s asking price, but he ends up leaving the club, the report adds Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenković is the first choice target to replace Škriniar.
Calciomercato end their report by stating: ‘In any case, Skriniar at Tottenham is not a done deal today and his departure is not certain. It depends on Spurs, with several obstacles…’
