Tottenham Hotspur are ‘in the running’ to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Axel Tape in the summer window.

That’s according to RMC Sport, and they cover Tottenham’s interest and the 17-year-old’s plans for the future.

He joined the French club’s academy in 2020 and made his way into PSG’s first team in January. Tape played 72 minutes in the Coupe de France win over lower division side FC Espaly.

Luis Henrique started the youngster in the heart of the back four and that’s been his only appearance for the senior team. He can also operate as a defensive midfielder.

The France U18 international is aware that it’s difficult for him to cement a place in Luis Enrique’s squad. Therefore, he has decided against signing his first professional contract.

Tape has just over two months left on his contract and the Ligue 1 winners will see him leave as a free agent.

Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen are named as interested parties. The two clubs are ‘in the running’, with the Bundesliga side having a head start. Spurs, therefore, need to step up if they wish to secure the versatile player’s services.

RMC state the French youngster is handling offers, without making it clear whether one of them is from Tottenham.

Tape will turn 18 years of age in August 10th and that makes him eligible to arrive in the UK if Spurs were to sign him.
