German newspaper Bild seem to love the word poker. Any given chance they have, it’s wheeled out to make a potential transfer seem intriguing.
On Tuesday afternoon, Bild say Wolfsburg and Tottenham are playing transfer poker over Heung-Min Son.
It’s claimed that Tottenham want €38m for the player, whereas Wolfsburg only want to pay €30m. There’s a difference of €8m, and that would fit in with more reliable claims from local newspaper Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.
However, WAZ had said Wolfsburg wanted to pay €22m, with Tottenham asking for €30m. The WAZ claims are probably the more trustworthy, but there’s every possibility Tottenham have upped the price because the end of the window is so near.
This is all likely to depend more on who Tottenham can bring in over the next 24 hours, rather than a few million here or there. If Son becomes surplus to requirements, then a poker game with Wolfsburg may well end in a win for both clubs.
