Three days ago, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Tottenham Hotspur have made contact for Genoa star Albert Guðmundsson. This was mentioned in a report that focused on Inter Milan’s desire to sign the attacking midfielder in the summer.
A fresh report from Gazzetta dello Sport states the Nerazzurri are aware of the 26-year-old’s high valuation of over €30m.
Inter are ready to include Valentin Carboni as part of the deal to lower Guðmundsson’s asking price. There was no mention of Tottenham in this report.
Calciomercato relay Gazzetta’s latest claim and then give their own take on this case, which is when they mention Ange Postecoglou’s side.
The Icelandic international has managed 12 goals and four assists from 29 matches and his impressive displays have drawn the attention of other clubs in Italy and abroad.
Spurs belong to the latter category and it’s claimed they are ‘in the front row’ to sign him.
Inter and Juventus are named as the interested parties from the Serie A. The obstacle for these two teams to sign Guðmundsson is the €30m fee demanded by Genoa, who aren’t willing to lower their request.
Tottenham may not find it difficult to meet Genoa’s request and if this is to be the case, it could give them an advantage over both Inter and Juventus.
Tuttosport, relayed by FcInterNews, state ‘there is competition’ from the London side and Juve for Inter to sign the player, further pushing the idea that Spurs are firmly in the mix.
