AC Milan have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Nicolò Zaniolo, according to multiple claims.
According to Sky Italia, the Giallorossi are ready to listen to offers for the forward this month. They reiterate Roma have rejected a Spurs loan offer with an obligation to buy linked to number of appearances and the Champions League qualification.
Roma are demanding €35-40m (other Italian sources have suggested a guaranteed €30m will be enough), which the north London club haven’t matched. If the Serie A side were to change their demands, then Tottenham would ‘remain on pole’.
At the same time, the Italy international could take other paths, like the one leading to the Rossoneri, who have made contact with his agent.
Milan are looking to take Zaniolo on loan with an obligation to buy linked to Champions League qualification next season. Their idea is to offer €19m plus bonuses, which is far away from Roma’s demands.
Sky’s claim about Milan’s plans to sign the player is echoed by Sport Mediaset. However, José Mourinho’s side want either a sale or loan with an obligation to buy set at €40m, with no conditions attached.
Tottenham would be Zaniolo’s ‘favourite destination’, along with Milan, but they have to find an agreement with Roma for any potential operation to take shape in January.
Over at Calciomercato.it, they stress Milan want to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy linked to Champions League qualification. As it stands, they haven’t presented any official offer to Roma.
The price set by Roma is out of reach for Stefano Pioli’s side. Despite this, the two parties will continue talks to understand if there is a way to find an agreement.
Meanwhile, Roma are ‘waiting for an acceleration from Tottenham’.
