Tottenham are interested in Barcelona defender Eric García as he looks likely to leave the Camp Nou in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to Fichajes.net, who report that Tottenham are one of several clubs keeping an eye on the defender.

They explain that García could be living out his final months as a Barcelona player as the 24-year-old is yet to establish himself at the club after returning from a loan spell at Girona last season.

He’s only featured in 39% of the available minutes in La Liga this season and that’s led to interest in him around Europe. Tottenham are one of the sides monitoring the matter as they look to strengthen their defence in the summer.

They see García as an interesting option due to his technical profile and his experience in English football with Manchester City.

There’s also the fact that his contract expires in 2026, which could significantly reduce his transfer fee and make him an attractive market opportunity.

Barcelona are more than open to a sale as it ease their budget without them losing a key player from the squad.

Tottenham need to turn their interest into something more concrete first, but Fichajes insist they’re in the mix and eyeing up García ahead of the summer.

Now, given the source, we’ll take this with a pinch of salt, but it would not be surprising if Tottenham want to strengthen in defence and would eye up a cheap deal like this to do so.
