It’s been over a month since Barcelona president Joan Laporta suggested an agreement will be reached with Tottenham Hotspur for Clément Lenglet… but that hasn’t happened so far.
The defender was on loan at Spurs last season and they want him back at the club.
Monday’s Mundo Deportivo states Tottenham are dragging out negotiations to try and buy the 28-year-old for a lower price.
It’s claimed the north London club’s ‘interest persists’ and the La Liga side hope to ‘unblock the situation’ for the Frenchman when Barca face Spurs in a friendly clash in Spain on Tuesday.
Over at Sport, they state the track leading to Spurs has ‘always been open’ for the centre-back.
They also state the Spurs trip to Spain is seen as a ‘magnificent opportunity’ for Barca to carry out the centre-back’s sale.
He earns €8.3m per year and Sport say Ange Postecoglou’s side would have to take care of his salary, should they acquire his signature.
It’s said a summit is scheduled between the two clubs on Tuesday to discuss Lenglet’s move for a €5m fixed fee, which could rise to €15m with potential bonuses.
More developments are expected after tomorrow’s meeting.
