Following his very public outburst after the 3-3 draw against Southampton, Antonio Conte appears to be one step closer to leave Tottenham.
The Italian manager has made it clear he isn’t happy with the situation at the club, and lambasted his players, which won’t have gone down well.
Him either walking away from or getting sacked by Tottenham has been widely discussed, and should that happen, there are some in Italy who believe his career could be on pause for a little while, as explained by Ivan Zazzaroni, relayed by Calciomercato.it.
This is because the general consensus is that Conte would return to Italy to continue his work, but the aforementioned director of Corriere dello Sport, speaking to the show Pressing, has made it clear there aren’t many options for him in Serie A these days.
He said: “Inter Milan and Juventus have never thought about him. There’s not a single reason to think about Conte. It’s a journalistic interventions. Today, things at Inter have gotten worse: Skriniar, Dumfries and Brozovic are leaving, there are no funds, Marotta and Ausilio are working miracles.
“It would be like disavowing Conte. Conte to Juventus? They would need to send away someone like Allegri, who would cost €28m.”
Inter and Juventus have both been linked with the Tottenham manager of late due to his past ties with both clubs, but it seems neither are in a position to welcome him.
That leaves a club like AC Milan, and while Stefano Pioli is currently under pressure, it remains to be seen how drastic his situation currently is, and whether they would want to hire someone with such strong ties with their local rivals.
