Tottenham Hotspur continue to chase Pedro Porro as they have not yet agreed a deal with Sporting for his transfer.
Rúben Amorim, the Lions’ manager, has confirmed the right-back will be in the squad to face FC Porto in the Taça da Liga final later today.
Porro has a €45m release clause and both AS and TuttoMercatoWeb reported on Friday that it is only valid for the summer, but there’s been no confirmation of that.
Record have a different take on when the 23-year-old’s clause could be used, including the January window.
It’s said the Spaniard’s clause cannot exercised in the last 15 days of the winter market. In other words, Sporting are now not legally obliged to let Porro leave this month if Spurs were to activate his €45m clause.
This has allowed the Portuguese club to prolong the negotiations and also present new demands to Tottenham to sanction Porro’s sale.
The Primeira Liga side want Spurs to pay the full amount [€45m] in cash and also negotiate the 40% fee the north London club are entitled to receive from Marcus Edwards’ future sale
The newspaper states: ‘It is these demands that have been postponing the green light to the transfer, always in the perspective that there is already an understanding when the decisive point of point of the process was that Tottenham reach €45m.’
Sporting, for their part, intend to make the most of the negotiation with Antonio Conte’s side for Porro and ‘squeeze the last drop’.
This should not see the deal collapse, but it allows Sporting to earn more money.
Record state this is what Tottenham and Sporting are working on and add that Porro would only be allowed to leave after today’s cup final.
