Tottenham are eyeing a move for Sampdoria midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard, although any move is dependant on who arrives as their new manager.
That’s according to Club Doria, who say Paulo Fonseca would have been keen on the player after working with him at Roma.
The website explains that despite the footballing world being focused on the Euros, the transfer window does not stop, and at Sampdoria, the focus is on the outgoing market.
Damsgaard is one of those who has suitors after being one of the ‘positive revelations’ at the club last season.
In particular, he has ‘strong interest’ from Tottenham, who have ‘always winked’ at the Danish talent and remain keen on him.
There are two factors to consider before a move, though. First is Tottenham’s managerial situation. They’re yet to replace Jose Mourinho, and at one point, it appeared Paulo Fonseca was getting the job.
He would have been very keen on Damsgaard after working with him at Roma, but now that move appears to be off and the next candidate may not be as interested.
There is also the Euros, where Damsgaard is playing with Denmark, and could earn himself bigger and more insistent suitors if he does well.
Either way, Sampdoria chief Massimo Ferrero is asking for more than €20m for the midfielder, so if Spurs do remain keen, they know how much they’ll have to pay.
