Tottenham are determined to sign defender Clement Lenglet on a permanent basis from Barcelona this summer.
That’s according to Sport, who say that Tottenham are ‘satisfied with his performance’ and want to keep him at the club.
Lenglet has been on loan with Spurs since last summer, when he arrived on a temporary basis from Barcelona to bolster Antonio Conte’s defence.
He’s been a regular since moving to London, making 22 appearances in the Premier League and featuring in 55% of the available minutes. He also made seven appearances in the Champions League and featured in both domestic cup competitions.
Sport say Tottenham are ‘satisfied’ with what they have seen from him so far and want to keep him on a permanent basis after the season comes to an end.
Negotiations have already begun for that to happen, although the current ‘crisis’ at the club and their struggles to qualify for the Champions League next season are ‘delaying everything’.
That’s frustrating for Barcelona, who are desperate to bring in as much cash as possible from players outside of the current squad to ease problems with Financial Fair Play.
Lenglet is the one of the transfers that could ‘bring the most cash’ but they are yet to strike an agreement with Tottenham to make his move a permanent one, hoping to get €15m ‘or a fee that is close to that’ for their defender.
