With Tottenham Hotspur’s Tanguy Ndombele getting little playing time at Napoli this season, it always seemed unlikely they’d trigger the €30m buying option they have over him.
A few reports from the Italian media had already been talking about the Serie A side deciding against the signing, and Sport Mediaset comes up with an interesting update on that today.
First of all, it’s said Napoli are not buying Ndombele from Tottenham, since president Aurelio de Laurentiis doesn’t want to pay that much.
Sport Mediaset then adds that Spurs ‘would like to get rid’ of the player this summer and are even thinking of terminating his contract with severance pay.
That obviously opens the possibility for other clubs, and it’s added that the likes of Juventus and Roma are among the clubs who are interested in that scenario.
Ndombele’s contract with Tottenham runs until 2025, so it would definitely take some long negotiations to convince the player of giving up on that.
Since he’s not in the club’s plans and they find a hard time selling him, perhaps that’s a solution which makes sense, ahead of a clean-up in their squad.
