As part of the Italian media’s big coverage of Milan’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur this week, they now had a word with Harry Redknapp about the game.

The English manager had been in charge of Spurs when the clubs faced each other in the Champions League in season 2010/11, when the English side managed to win the Italian champions at the San Siro.

Redknapp still has fond memories from that match, and detailed how good Tottenham were at the time.

“Cross by Lennon, goal by Crouch: San Siro conquered,” Redknapp told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“And resistance at White Hart Lane, we were very good at defending the advantage of the first leg. That Milan was a superior team, they played better in the second leg, they had ball possession. I particularly remember Clarence Seedorf who literally dominated the game. And also the coach, Massimiliano Allegri: a good person”.

TuttoMercatoWeb then asked Redknapp if his Tottenham was better than Antonio Conte’s, and had no doubts about that question.

“My Tottenham was better, and I think if we had Harry Kane we would’ve been an incredible team. Imagine him with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.”

Speaking of the Croatian star, he was keen to talk about the midfielder still being great at the age of 38 for Real Madrid.

“He’s a great professional: he doesn’t drink, he’s a family man, he doesn’t create problems. He’s a special person and a great footballer.”

Following Tottenham’s 1-0 at the San Siro back in 2011, the teams drew 0-0 at White Hart Lane, with Spurs getting the qualification for the quarter-finals.

But things didn’t go so great in that stage, as Redknapp’s side faced Real Madrid.

The La Liga giants won the first tie 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu, and gave no chance in the second leg either, winning 1-0 in London as well.
