Having failed to lure Arne Slot from Feyenoord over the past few days, Tottenham are now looking at other targets to replace Antonio Conte.
This seemingly endless search for a new manager has led them to return to Luis Enrique, who they were already looking at towards the end of April.
Emerging in England after the Slot snub, the idea the Spaniard could be approached by Tottenham was rekindled in England on Friday, and is now being discussed in Italy by Corriere del Mezzogiorno for a very good reason.
That’s because Napoli will have to replace Luciano Spalletti, and the local newspaper explain Luis Enrique is the manager that ‘intrigues’ Aurelio De Laurentiis ‘the most’.
However, there is a warning attached to that, as ‘there is a need to beat the competition from Tottenham’, as well as that of Paris Saint-Germain, who seem ready to move on from Christophe Galtier at the end of the current campaign.
While Tottenham might normally be one of the favourites here, they, unlike the other two clubs, won’t be playing Champions League football next year and aren’t in a position to fight for a league title just yet.
Therefore, it might be a tall order unless Daniel Levy really pushes and promises a full wallet to the former Barcelona and Spain manager.
