Tottenham are one of the sides interested in Sampdoria defender Giovanni Leoni but are trailing Torino in the potential race for him.
That’s according to the Turin edition of La Repubblica, relayed by Tutto Juve, who say Tottenham are one of the sides in the mix for the 17-year-old.
The newspaper reports that Torino are in pole position to sign the central defender from Sampdoria this summer.
Leoni is considered ‘one of the most intriguing’ talents in the Italian youth set up after coming to fore at Sampdoria this season with 12 games in Serie B.
They bought him from Padova for €1.5m, with that deal set to be completed on July 1st, but his stay at the club could be a short one.
That’s because Torino, Juventus and Napoli are all showing an interest in Serie A while Tottenham are following him from England also.
Torino are at the front of the queue at this moment in time, although it is unclear if they have made a bid or are pushing. Either way, they and other suitors will have to pay €5m if they want to secure the youngster’s signature.
