Tottenham are showing an interest in Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix as they continue their big summer of spending.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that Lacroix’s successful season at Crystal Palace has earned Tottenham’s attention. Other teams in Europe are also interested in the defender.
The newspaper reports that Tottenham are looking to strengthen their defensive line this summer as they return to the Champions League next season.
Lacroix has earned their attention with his impressive performances under Oliver Glasner last season as Crystal Palace won the FA Cup, their first major trophy in their history.
The defender is also on Borussia Dortmund’s transfer list and several Italian sides have made inquiries as well. Whether Crystal Palace are open to a sale isn’t made clear but seems unlikely.
They’ve already seen Marc Guehi linked with a move away this summer and would be loath to lose Lacroix as well. If they did sanction a sale, it would likely be for much more than the €18m they bought the Frenchman for last summer.
It should be pointed out that reports earlier today also had Tottenham trying to sign Ilya Zabarnyi from Bournemouth. That report stated they were willing to pay €70m for the Ukrainian.
So, it appears they are on the hunt for centre-backs, and perhaps that has seen them add Lacroix to their list.
