It’s been a few days without Serge Aurier claims coming from France, and L’Equipe have dutifully done something about that.
Tottenham are the Premier League star of the French newspaper’s Tuesday article, and it’s claimed personal terms are almost agreed for a transfer.
Daniel Levy is the man said to be most prominent for Tottenham, and Spurs are now ‘ahead’ for Aurier as the London club look for a Kyle Walker replacement.
Aurier and Tottenham, according to the player’s entourage, have a broad agreement on a five year contract for the player. There’s now ‘95% agreement’ and once that gets to 100%: ‘President Levy, faithful to his methodology of work, will engage in negotiations with Paris, to the tune of about €25m.’
Chelsea are keen but not as prominent as Tottenham right now, and contact with Manchester United is ‘blurred’… that’s despite several reports over the summer saying personal terms have been agreed on a move to Old Trafford.
There remains the problem with Aurier’s work permit, after the defender was denied entry to the UK in November, and subsequently couldn’t play against Arsenal.
Aurier has a legal case pending, an appeal against a prison term for violence against a police officer.
There’s no guarantee that will all be sorted out in good time ahead of the window closing.
Serge Aurier has had so many claims about him this summer, seemingly being pushed by the player’s entourage, that it’s impossible to work out which bits are true and which bits are what his entourage would hope to be true.
Tottenham are looking to recruit, but there’s little point going any further with Aurier, even if the interest is genuine, until they know whether he’ll be allowed in the country.
