In his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli confirmed Zlatan Ibrahimović and Ismaël Bennacer are in contention to face Manchester United.

The first leg of the Europa League last 16 tie ended in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last week and the return leg is scheduled to take place at San Siro later today.

Pioli also stressed Alessio Romagnoli, Ante Rebić, Rafael Leão and Davide Calabria remain doubtful to face the Red Devils.

“We’ll need to wait and see with the others; tomorrow morning’s training session will be key for Romagnoli, Rebić, Calabria and Leão. The more options I have, the better – especially because we are playing so many games. In any case, we’ve shown that we can do well even during injury crises,” the Milan manager said on Wednesday.

There is ‘total emergency’ at the Serie A club as neither of the four players have been passed fit for the clash against United.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the checks conducted today morning gave ‘negative feelings’ over Romagnoli, Rebić, Calabria and Leão’s availability.

Therefore, none of them are summoned for the midweek Europa League tie.

This is ‘bad news’ for Pioli, who is looking forward to help Milan overcome Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side to progress to the last eight of the Europa League.
